Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) Optimization
What Is TSP Optimization?
TSP optimization involves maximizing the growth potential and tax efficiency of your Thrift Savings Plan while aligning contributions with your overall retirement strategy and military benefits.
Key TSP decisions we help veterans navigate:
Military Pension Income Planning
Understanding Your Military Retirement System
Whether you're under the legacy High-3 system, REDUX, or the Blended Retirement System (BRS), understanding how your military pension integrates with other retirement income is essential for long-term financial security.
Military pension planning includes:
- High-3 / Legacy System: Calculating pension benefits and integration with other income sources
- Blended Retirement System (BRS): Optimizing the combination of defined benefit pension and TSP matching
- FERS/CSRS: For veterans who transitioned to federal civilian employment
- Tax planning: Understanding how military pension income is taxed at federal and state levels
Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) Analysis
Is SBP Right for Your Family?
The Survivor Benefit Plan decision is one of the most important, and irreversible, choices military retirees make. We help you analyze whether SBP, life insurance, or a combination provides the best protection for your family.
SBP analysis considerations:
VA Disability Benefit Coordination
VA disability benefits are tax-free and can significantly impact your overall financial plan. We help veterans understand how VA benefits coordinate with other income sources, Social Security, and retirement planning strategies.
VA benefit coordination includes:
- Understanding the tax-free nature of VA disability compensation
- Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) and Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) planning
- Integrating VA benefits with Social Security claiming strategies
- Estate planning considerations for VA benefits
